Dec 06: Justine Henin-Hardenne set her sights on more Grand Slam titles after collecting the second of her career with victory over Kim Clijsters at the US Open.
The second seed swept past her fellow Belgian 7-5 6-1 to add the Flushing Meadows crown to the French Open title she won in June. "It is such a great feeling," said Henin-Hardenne. "I am so happy right now. Two Grand Slams in the same year, I can't believe it.
"I tell you now, I am the happiest woman in the world." And at 21 years old, Henin-Hardenne believes she is capable of collecting a large haul of major titles, despite the inevitable return of the Williams sisters from injury.
"Maybe I arrived a little later than some other players but winning two Grand Slams at 21, I think, is great," she said. "It gives me a lot of confidence for the rest of my career. I'm still very young and I want to play for a long time.
Clijsters was determined to remain positive despite suffering the third Grand Slam final defeat of her career. She lost in the 2001 French Open final to Jennifer Capriati, and again this year at the hands of Henin-Hardenne, leading to suggestions she is not worthy of her number one ranking.
