Ahmedabad, Aug 03: Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi today announced a compensation of Rs 50,000 for the families of each of those killed in the building collapse in Surat city of south Gujarat, official sources said. The amount will be paid from the chief minister's relief fund, the sources added.

Thirteen people, including five women, were killed and atleast 45 others injured when a powerful explosion, triggered by LPG cylinders, led to the collapse of a three-storey residential building and two adjoining buildings in the textile city early this morning.
