New Delhi, Nov 04: Role of money in terrorism and emerging role of Interpol in investigation abroad will be among a host of issues to be discussed at a three-day conference of heads of Central Police Organisations (CPOs) and state police forces beginning here today. Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will address the conference a day after its inauguration by Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, an official spokesman said here today.

The main thrust of the 38th DGPs/IGPs conference is to realise the vision of a technologically-modern and more community-friendly police in the new millennium, he said.

The conference would deliberate upon issues pertaining to internal conflict scenario, criminal justice system, police perspective and response, role of money in terrorism, community policing, emerging role of Interpol in investigation abroad, developments in forensic science. Kidnapping for ransom and fake documents – instruments of economic genocide are other important issues to be discussed at the meet, he said.

The delegates will call on President A P J Abdul Kalam on the concluding day of the conference.

Indian police medals for meritorious service and President's police medals for distinguished service will also be given away at the conference.
