Mumbai, Nov 04: Prince Charles has expressed appreciation for India's growing capabilities in information technology industry and said that would be an another basis for closer Indo-UK ties, according to NASSCOM Chairman Kiran Karnik. The Prince of Wales was impressed by India's potential in IT industry and commented that Mastek Ltd, an Indian software firm, has done a good job in decongesting the London traffic, Karnik told reporters on the sidelines of a briefing organised for Prince Charles here.


The Prince observed the companies on both sides could benefit from the IT relationship, which should strengthen the relationship between the two countries, Karnik said. Mastek chairman Ashank Desai said the Prince expressed "statisfaction" in the software project, 'London Congestion Charging', which was developed and implemented by the Mumbai-based company.

He also said that such a project should be implemented in Mumbai to decongest the city.


Earlier, NASSCOM in its presentation to the Prince, had mentioned that India has resources that could make it the IT destination of the world. Skilled manpower, conducive regulatory climate, high- quality software products and world-class infrastructure are available in the country, which can be tapped by the world, Karnik said.

Tata Group of Companies, Zensar Technologies Ltd and IIT- Bombay also made presentations to the Prince. Bureau Report
