New Delhi, May 30: President A P J Abdul Kalam will dedicate to the nation 92 kms long Patna-Gaya broad gauge electrification at Patna junction by flagging of a Mainline Electrical Multiple Unit (MEMU) train today.
Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had laid the foundation stone for the project in 2002, an official press release said today.
Built at the cost of Rs 36.5 crores in a record time of about one year, the electrification would provide a faster, eco-friendly and convenient mode of bulk transport to the daily commuters, especially the tourists depending on the rail transport in this area.
Advanced signalling system on this route will provide better visibility to avoid "no light" condition of the signals, which promises better safety and reliability, it said.
The function, to be presided over by state Chief Minister Rabri Devi, would also be attended by Union Railway Minister Nitish Kumarand besides ministers of state for railways Bandaru Dattatraya and A K Moorthy. Bureau Report
