Mumbai, Feb 23: Eminent writer from Rajkot, Jayant Relwani, today received the coveted Ishwaribai Buxani award for lifetime achievement.
It was formally presented to him by NRI from Dubai, Ram Buxani.

The award, instituted in memory of Buxani's mother, carried a cash prize of Rs 50,000.

Relwani has written 36 books in Gujarati, 16 in Sindhi and five in Hindi.

Receiving the award, Relwani said, "I am inspired by Buxani who has already risen to greater heights."

Presenting the award, Buxani said this honour is bestowed every year on jewels of the Sindhi community, who have dedicated themselves to the promotion of literature and culture.

The earlier recipients of the award include Popati Hiranandani, Hundraj Dukhayal, Tirth Bahaani, Ram Krishan Advani, Motilal Jyotwani, Ramesh Janjani, S P Menghani, Govardhan Bharati and Anila Sunder.
