Quito, Ecuador, Aug 20: Ecuador has signed an agreement to host the 2004 Miss Universe pageant, hoping the visit from the world's beauties will help its tourism industry. This South American nation is counting on nine minutes the contest allows to promote on television its snow-capped Andes and Galapagos Islands to help increase tourism. Ecuador will pay 5 million dollars to host the pageant, which will be watched by 1 billion viewers in 180 countries. But it expects to reel in 200 million dollars from visitors and related business in the 30 days leading up to the pageant. Bureau Report
