Karimnagar, Oct 06: With the recovery of two claymore mines under a culvert, police have foiled an attempt by PWG militants to blow off a bridge on the Karimnagar-Hyderabad state highway near here. "The naxalites had planted two claymore mines and connected it with a fuse wire upto 30 metres of length under a culvert. Police unearthed the mines last evening," sub-inspector of police T Mohan said here today. The mines were planted under the culvert at a distance of 200 yards from Lower Manair Dam (LMD) police station, nearly eight km from here, he said adding the militants had also planted one more claymore mine under another culvert, also near the police station. No arrests have been made so far, Mohan said, and added police has increased combing operations and search for more mines, if any. Bureau Report
