Bangalore, Sept 03: A regular in the one-day cricket squad, middle-order batsman Mohammad Kaif will seek to capitalise on his "confidence-boosting" county stint in England to force his way back in the Test side. z Kaif, who last played a Test match when India toured Sri Lanka in August-September 2001, said his priority would to score as many runs as possible in the lead-up games to the two-Test New Zealand series.
Asked if he fancied his chance to break into the Test side again, Kaif said "pretty much. I know that I have to score some big runs to make sure I am there."
The Allahabad cricketer said he felt a lot more confident after the three-month stint in England. "It was a confidence- boosting experience. Now I just have to concentrate on converting the 30s and 40s into big scores," he told reporters at the training camp for probables here.
Kaif said he would look forward to team up with English county side Derbyshire again sometime in future but would not hurry things. "I would love to go back to England but it would only be after one or two years as the body needs rest at some stage."
"It's great to be in England. I would like to go there again and do well."
