Islamabad, Nov 07: Pakistan cricket found itself
embroiled in yet another controversy after captain Inzamam-ul
Haq and coach Javed Miandad said chief selector Aamir Sohail
had picked the probables for the one-day series against New
Zealand without consulting them.
The inexplicable action of Sohail had left the team
management stumped and both Miandad and Inzamam were upset
with the latest antic of the former Pakistan skipper,
according to a report in "The News".
Sohail announced a list of 22 probables for the five-match one-day series against New Zealand yesterday.
The report said neither Inzamam nor Miandad were aware till late last night of the probables list being finalised and released.
The duo, however, declined to comment on the issue. Sohail also reportedly did not bother to seek the approval of the acting chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board Rameez Raja before releasing the list to the press.
Rameez was tight lipped when asked for his reaction even though he did appear upset over the whole incident, the paper said.
Under the PCB regulations the selection committee has to seek the approval of the chairman before finalising the squad. Bureau Report
