New Delhi, Apr 22: Expressing serious concern in Lok Sabha over detection of some cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in India, government today assured members that it would not be found lacking in dealing with the killer disease. Responding during Zero Hour to queries related to the disease which was causing havoc in some countries including China and Singapore, Health Minister Sushma Swaraj said "government has taken all effective measures to deal with the situation and it will not be found lacking." Spelling out measures initiated by the government, she said all passengers coming from abroad in different parts of the country were being thoroughly screened by health officials at airports and passengers found having symptoms of the disease were quarantined. They are released only after reports of the samples of urine, blood, sputum and nasal discharge are found negative, she said. The Centre, she said, has convened a meeting of health ministers from states here on Thursday to discuss the situation and advise them a plan of action.
