New Delhi, June 03: BJP today launched a counter offensive against Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh saying he has trapped himself in a debate over development in
the state.
The counter-attack on Singh, who has been at the helm in
the state for a decade now, came within hours of the Chief
Minister holding a press conference to refute the charges
raised by Union Minister Arun Jaitley on the "dismal
performance" of the Congress government in the state.
"I am glad Digvijay Singh has trapped himself in a debate on development... the people of Madhya Pradesh (going to polls later this year) will give the verdict," the Commerce and Industry Minister told describing him as a "patient who refused to accept that he was ill."
"He can never be cured," Jaitley quipped and quoted from a number of latest reports and surveys from several national and international institutes of repute and publications to disprove Singh's contention about the "redundancy" of data cited by Jaitley in his communication to the chief minister on May 23.
Jaitley had said in his letter that "all the studies and major indicators show that Madhya Pradesh's performance is not at all satisfactory and not improved over time." Bureau Report
