Jammu, Oct 30: Security forces averted a major tragedy by detecting nearly thirty kgs RDX-laden Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Doda and also recovered huge quantity of arms and explosives from two militant hidedouts in Rajouri and Poonch districts in Jammu and Kashmir last evening, official sources said here today. The IED, which was planted by militants under a culvert, was recovered by a joint party army and police party from the Sarthangal- Bhadarwa road around 1945 hours yesterday.
Later, the IED was neutralised by experts thus averting a major tragedy, the sources said.
Security forces during search operations busted two hideouts in Thanamandi area of Rajouri district and Krishna Ghati of Poonch district and recovered huge quantity of arms and explosives from these hideouts which were later smashed.
The recoveries included two RPG rockets with boosters, one pistol, two pistol magazines, five AK magazines, 164 rounds of AK ammunition, six Ubgl grenades, five hand grenades, four rounds of Pika ammunition, 21 Pika cartridges, two anti-personnel mines, one binocular, two radio sets and four electric detonators.
