Patna, Aug 29: Hundreds of RJD workers today vandalised two cinema halls here stalling the screening of noted film maker Prakash Jha's "Gangajal", where the antagonist is called Sadhu Yadav, the namesake of Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi's legislator brother. Agitating against naming of the villain as Sadhu Yadav, the RJD workers vandalised 'Apsara' and 'Vena' cinema halls, where the film was scheduled to be released today.
The protestors broke windowpanes of the 'Apsara' theatre and tore the posters of the movie at the two halls. They also raised slogans against Jha accusing him of sullying the image of their leader Sadhu Yadav. Manager of 'Veena' cinema hall Vidyanand Jha said that they have decided not to show the movie till it was cleared of all the controversy.
"We have asked the distributor of the movie to send the print only after the controversy is over," he said. The management of 'Apsara' cinema hall also gave the same argument for postponing the release of the movie.
Meanwhile, sources close to Yadav, who himself was reportedly away from state capital, said that a petition would be filed in the high court in a day or two seeking a stay on the screening of the movie which allegedly tarnished the image of the MLA. Bureau Report
