Petroleum dealers in Bihar would go on an indefinite strike from August 21 in response to the call given by the federation of All India Petroleum Traders, Bihar petroleum dealers association secretary, Amit Mukherjee, said on Tuesday.
"The strike would be in protest against Centre's apathy towards the demands of the federation on quality, temperature variation allowance and commission on petrol and diesel," Mukherjee said.
He said that the federation had earlier called for a nationwide strike from October 6, 2000 that had forced the union minister for petroleum and natural gas Ram Naik to form three committees comprising directors of four oil companies to look into dealers' grievances.
All the three committees were asked to submit its report by January 6 this year, he said adding the committees had not made any recommendations to the Centre on the demands of dealers.
