London, Sept 29: Charlton beat Liverpool 3-2 in English Premier League. A hat-trick by Jamaica striker Kevin Lisbie gave Charlton Athletic a pulsating 3-2 victory over Liverpool in the premier league on Sunday (September 28).
Czech midfielder Vladimir Smicer gave Liverpool an early lead, brilliantly put through by Australia playmaker Harry Kewell, but a double strike by Lisbie put Charlton in front just before the break.
England striker Michael Owen equalised within minutes of the re-start from the penalty spot but Lisbie, who has been regularly barracked by Charlton fans, answered his critics in style with a superb solo winner in the 83rd minute. Kewell hit the woodwork in stoppage time but Charlton held on for a first home league win of the season that moves them up to 11th in the table on eight points, while Liverpool remain seventh on 11 points. Lisbie, a London-born product of Charlton's academy, told Sky Sports: "It's my first hat-trick with the first team. It's always good to be scoring but a hat-trick against Liverpool of all teams is even better."
As for the fans who this time cheered him off when the 24-year-old was substituted, Lisbie said: "It turns quickly sometimes. At the start of the season, I got booed off.
"I've been here since I was 14 ... so it was a bit difficult with the fans getting on top of me, but I suppose they only wanted the best out of me." P W D L F A Pts 1. Arsenal 7 5 2 0 14 5 17 2.
