Gunmen shoot dead two members of a political party in Pak
Karachi, Jan 12: Two gunmen shot and killed two senior members of a small political party and wounded two others in southern city of Karachi, police said today.
The attackers opened fire yesterday, killing Mohammed
Ali Sunara and Abdul Samad, members of Pakistan People's Party
(Shaheed Bhutto group), a breakaway faction of the opposition
party of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.
Nobody immediately claimed responsibility for the
killings, and Karachi's police chief, Tariq Jamil, said
police were still investigating.
“Sunara was sitting outside his home along with his
friends when two motorcyclists opened fire and escaped,'' he
said. ``We are looking for the gunmen.''
Jamil gave no other details.
Bhutto's brother, Murtaza Bhutto, was killed in a
shootout with police in Karachi in 1996 when Bhutto was prime
minister.
