Lucknow, Oct 25: The stand-off between the state BJP leadership and the dissident party MLAs in Uttar Pradesh showed no signs of a solution with the rebels sticking to their demands that the party should only extend outside support to the Mayawati-led government.
The BJP national general secretary Rajnath Singh, who rushed here yesterday to defuse the crisis meanwhile hoped that the crisis would soon blow over.

Singh, who had meetings with several dissident legislators, said, there was resentment among a section of them, but it was not for "cabinet berths".
The Convenor of the "save BJP committee', formed by the dissident BJP legislators, Ganga Bhakt Singh today lambasted the state leadership saying the party had deviated from its principles and policies'.
Claiming that their fight was to "save the party organ from any further decay", Singh told newsmen that the party must withdraw from the government and extend outside support as it was now a question of its very existence in the state.
Our fight is not for ministerial berths as being propagated by the state leadership but aimed at restoring its past glory' he said.
