New Delhi, May 30: In the wake of scam involving its former vice-chairman and other top ranking officials, the DDA has instituted a high level study team to revamp the vigilance cell of the development authority in the capital. "This is being done with a view to introspect our own functioning and what more needs to be done to strengthen detection, punitive action and prevention aspect of the vigilance administration," DDA vice-chairman Anil Baijal said.

The team comprising joint director of CBI, Paramvir Singh, and deputy secretary of Central Vigilance Commission, R M Pilai, was expected to submit its report by July 15.

During the course, the team would study the measures to revamp and restructure the vigilance setup in DDA so that it could better meet the objective for which it had been created in the organisation, an official release said here.

The team would review the existing organisational structure of the vigilance setup in DDA in the light of the role it is expected to perform, recommend measures for strengthening of the vigilance set up, source of recruitment of personnel and training of its man-power to make it a more effective arm of the organisation, it added.

The DDA came in for a flak after Subash Sharma, the then vice-chairman, and three senior officials of the ranks of commissioner and director were arrested by CBI in connection with various alleged bunglings in the authority.
