New Delhi, Aug 19: Nationalist Congress Party today termed as "dictatorial and undemocratic attitude" the NDA government's decision to refer to president A P J Abdul Kalam the election commission's order to defer the polls in Gujarat till November-December this year. Condemning the government for referring the issue to the president, NCP general secretary Tariq Anwar, in a statement here, said this was nothing but "a confrontation with a constitutional body like the Election Commission."

Reminding Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani of his statement that government would abide by Election Commission's decisions, Anwar sought to know what had happened to his promise.
"What BJP is doing is nothing new on its part as the party has also taken a confrontationist attitude with two other constitutional bodies, minority commission and national Human Rights Commission, which have given unfavourable reports against the role of Gujarat government in riots," he added.
