New Delhi: The carcass of a mysterious sea creature washed up on a beach in Georgia and people can't help draw comparisons to the Loch Ness monster.
Jeff Warren was out boating with his son at Wolf Island National Wildlife Refuge in Golden Isles, when he spotted the strange-looking marine creature.
According to Action News Jax, Warren initially thought the animal was a dead seal, but upon closure inspection he saw it resembled something from prehistoric times.
The marine creature stretched to around 5 feet and had an elongated neck and a small head. By the time Warren came across the creature, hungry herons had already started to devour it.
As per First Coast News, Warren recorded the creature and spoke about it at the nearby Skipper’s Fish House, where he was told of a legend called “Alty,” or Altahama, the local equivalent of the Loch Ness Monster who is said to roam the seas in the area.
Skeptics pushed the theory that the corpse may be a fake, placed ahead of next week's April Fool's Day.
As per Action News Jax, the US Fish and Wildlife Service has so far been unable to sufficiently determine what the creature Warren found on the Georgian beach is.
