New Delhi: This octopus surely is one lucky fellow as it has been released back into the sea so she can find a mate and complete her life cycle.
Scotland's Macduff Marine Aquarium recently documented the release of Kali-Marie, the female lesser octopus, in a fascinating footage that shows the cephalopod being released into the waters by the marine biologists.

The female lesser octopus, who lived at the aquarium for six months, was donated by a local fisherman.
While at the aquarium, the octopus wowed staff and visitors alike with her smart skills, besides providing biologists the opportunity to study her kind.
"She was very fast at learning new puzzles," aquarium marine biologist Dr Lauren Smith was quoted as saying to Discovery News.
“She would usually just need one attempt with a new puzzle before she learned what to do when it was presented to her the next time.”
After staying for six months, staff at the aquarium decided to release her back into the sea so that she can find a mate. With an estimated lifespan of around 18 months, the lesser octopus (Eledone cirrhosa) is native to the Scottish coastline.
