Three tiger cubs, recently born to a royal Bengal tigress in Mahendra Chaudhary Zoological Park in Patiala district, about 25 km from Chandigarh, have died after developing some infections, a zoo official said on Thursday. “The tigress had recently given birth to the three cubs, including the first ever white cub born in the zoo, but refused to feed them leaving them weak and prone to infections,” Dr Vinod Sharma, Director of the zoo said. While one of the cubs was still-born, the other died a day after its birth about a fortnight ago and the white one on Tuesday night. “The cubs could not be saved despite all out efforts by the zoo staff, including creation of a Special Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and round-the-clock care by attendants,” he said.
