Members of Parliament from Bihar belonging to various political parties met in New Delhi on Wednesday to discuss development of the state after its bifurcation for creation of Jharkhand.
“We are discussing all issues relating to the state's development including its backwardness, infrastructure, international airport, irrigation and power projects,” RJD President Laloo Prasad Yadav told reporters.
The meeting, which was attended by Chief Minister Rabri Devi, felt that a massive infrastructure development fund should be created to improve road and rail traffic, tone up telecommunications and strengthen health facilities to bridge the widening gap between Bihar and other states.
They were also of the view that the freight equalisation policy be immediately implemented and the royalty on minerals be enhanced.

The meeting was arranged at the initiative of the Union Agriculture Minister Nitish Kumar, heading an eight-member steering committee, set up by him for the speedy development of Bihar after creation of Jharkhand.
Prominent among those who attended that meeting were Minister of State for Railways Digvijay Singh (Samata), Shyama Singh (Congress), Devendra Prasad Yadav (JD-U), Raghuvansh Prasad Singh (RJD) and Abha Mahato (BJP). Bureau Report
