Reyna is US soccer player of year
Claudio Reyna, the playmaking midfielder who has been a key member of the US national soccer team, was chosen by the US player of the year on Tuesday.

Reyna received 54 first-place votes and a total of 226 points in voting by 233 journalists to select the best US men's soccer player. Goalkeeper Tony Meola had 210 points. Forward Joe-Max Moore, the third finalist, received 134 points.
Eric Wynalda, retired but still the career leading scorer for the United States with 34 goals and 16 assists, was voted the American player of the decade.
The player who orchestrates the US Team's attack, the 27-year-old Reyna started 11 matches this year, and had a goal and two assists.
He has recorded at least one goal and one assist every year since joining the national team in 1994.
A member of two World Cup teams, Reyna played every minute for the United States during the 1998 World Cup. He was also a member of Us Olympic teams in 1992 and 1996.
"I beat out some good guys, Reyna said via satellite from Scotland, where he is a member of the Glasgow rangers of the Scottish premier division.
"There were a lot of very good players considered, not just the three finalists. I strive for consistency, and I'm fortunate I have received good coaching and have been surrounded by good players," He said.
Reyna was a finalist in 1997 and l999. Meola also is a three-time finalist, and Moore was a first-time finalist.
