Six people were killed and five others injured, two of them seriously, in an explosion triggered by militants at a shop in a village in Udhampur district of Jammu division on Saturday, a BSF spokesman said. The blast, caused by an improvised explosive device occurred at a shop at around 7 a.m. in Sangaldhan village where some people had gathered to take a dip in a holy pond nearby, he said. Of the five, two critically injured were rushed to the army hospital, Udhampur, he said, adding other injured were being treated in a local sub-hospital. As BSF troops cordoned off the area to nab the militants, another blast took place nearby around 10 a.m. without causing any loss of life or damage. As the troops were proceeding to the second blast site, militants opened fire on them which they retaliated. The encounter was continuing, the spokesman said. Bureau Report
