Sixteen Bihar ministers are likely to lose their jobs with the coming into existence of Jharkhand state on November 15. The 16 ministers, including 11 of Congress belong to the tribal plateau region which will constitute the new state.
The Congress ministers who are likely to lose their berths are Furkan Ansari, the leader of CLP in the assembly Bagun Sumbrui, Manoj Kumar Yadav, Chandrashekhar Dubey, Rajendra Prasad Singh (all cabinet ministers) Theodore Kiro, Niyal Tirki, Sawna Lakra, Pradeep Kumar Balmuchu, Deo Kumar Dhan and Alamgir (ministers of state).
Rashtriya Janata Dal ministers who will be left without the trappings of power are Saba Ahmed, Annapurna Devi and Girinath Singh. Besides, Madhav Lal Singh and Joba Manjhi, independent MLAs and member of the Rabri Devi cabinet will also lose their jobs. However, with the National Democratic Alliance facing the threat of desertion by JMM-S, which is demanding chief ministerial post for its president Sibu Soren, the possibility of some of them securing berths in the new government cannot be ruled out.
