A flash CNN/Gallup/USA Today poll taken within an hour after the finish of the first campaign 2000 presidential debate favoured democratic Vice President Al Gore as the winner by 48 per cent to 41 percent over Texas Republican Governor George W Bush. The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus four points.
Both candidates did well, according to the poll. Some 76 per cent of those polled thought gore did an excellent or good job in the debate, while 70 percent said the same for Bush.
