Apprehending law and order problems in the aftermath of the postal strike being declared as illegal, Centre on Friday asked states to take necessary steps to maintain the law and order situation on the postal front.
Cabinet secretary has written a letter to the chief secretaries of states asking them to take appropriate measures to maintain law and order situation in the states, Communication Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said in New Delhi.

Asked whether government would arrest the employees if they do not return to work, Paswan said that government will take all necessary steps to bring back normalcy in postal services.
Paswan was speaking on the sidelines of Infranet 2000 organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Government, invoked the provisions of the Industrial Dispute (ID) Act and declared the ongoing strike illegal.

Meanwhile, the postal employees unions have decided to continue with the strike which entered the 11th day on Friday.
We may have another round of negotiations with the government today... But we are going ahead with the agenda decided earlier including march to parliament during the day, employees unions representative told PTI.

The three postal employees federations have decide to continue the indefinite strike till all their demands related to wage revision and other benefits as recommended by Justice Talwar Committee were settled. Bureau Report
