It can’t be a better occasion than Maha Shivaratri for you to dig out your traditional clothes.

Maha Shivaratri 2017: Go ethnic to look resplendent

Maha Shivaratri is often referred to as the auspicious day when the marital union of Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati took place at Triyuginarayan in Rudraprayad in modern day Uttarakhand.

This day is very special to devotees of Lord Shiva, who celebrate the marriage of the celestial couple.

It is important to wear neat and tidy clothes if not new ones. And since these days, we choose more lighter and comfortable clothes, our ethnic wear almost gets overcast.

It can’t be a better occasion than Maha Shivaratri for you to dig out your traditional clothes. We bet you can’t look more gorgeous in any modern day dress. Here are a few tips for both men and women:

For women:

Take out your Kanjeevaram, Benarasi or Bengal cotton sarees with matching or complimenting blouse. If you don’t have any of these, you can still drape an ordinary cotton or chiffon saree.

If you are working on this day, then wear minimal jewellery to keep your attire subtle. You can wear matching or golden traditional jewellery later in the evening when you return from office.

For men:

Yon wear a crisp white kurta and chudidar to your workplace. Later in the evening, you can wear a brighter kurta and team it up with a dhoti. Indian men indeed look incredible macho in traditional wear.

Contemporary fashion wear may be more comfortable but it cannot beat the beauty of our indigenous ethnic wear. So what are you waiting for? Go Desi this Maha Shivaratri.
