New Delhi: It was a night to remember. A night to last long in the memories of thousands who were present on Thursday night at Camp Nou as Barcelona pulled off a miraculous victory over PSG.
Two weeks back, Barcelona suffered an away defeat (4-0) to Paris Saint German in the first leg of Champions League. News was in the air that the former champions may see an early exit to the team they have lost only once before. No team had ever bounced back from a 4-0 deficit, that too against a team like PSG. The odds stood against them. However, Luis Enrique was confident enough that his boys had the ability to script history at their home ground.
They walked into the night hoping for a miracle and they came out scripting history as Champion League's greatest comeback. Here is how the night looked like...
3 min- Luis Suarez started off with Barca's goals galore. A cross was sent in from the right which the PSG defense failed to clear and Suarez headed in from close range which made it past the goal line.
40 min- The only moment that the visitors would regret. Probably the moment that they want to erase off. A lifted pass to Andres Iniesta as PSG struggled to clear it off the defense. He went in front of Marquinhos and flicked the ball which touched Layvin Kuzawa. Barca stood 2-0.
50 min - Another moment of blunder by the visitors when Meunier slipped in to bring down Neymar in penalty box giving Luis Enrique's men to make it three. And indeed it was. Lionel Messi made no mistake to put it past Kevin Trapp to the bottom left corner.
62 min- Barca hopes finally seemed shattered when Edison Cavani volleyed into the back of the net making it 3-1. It was a moment of joy for the visitors , but for the Catalans, it meant that they now have to make it six to enter quarters.
88 min- Barcelona earned a free kick from the 20 yards spot and Neymar curled a scintillating free-kick to which Trapp could only gaze at, as the ball flew into the top left-corner.
90 min- The Brazilian international cameback in the dying minutes of the game to score from a penalty after PSG defender Marquinhos earned a yellow for bringing down Suarez. With that, they had drawn the score, but PSG was still the team to go to the quarters owing to Cavani's away goal.
90+ 5 min- A moment of history, a moment when they knew they had done what seemed to be rather impossible.Neymar curled in a dinked cross, to which Sergio Roberto stretched out to lift a close range finish past the PSG goalkeeper.
Barcelona finished 6-1 at the end of the night to make the aggregate 6-5 in favour of the Catalans who have finally made it to the quarters.
