CK Vineeth, Indian footballer, sacked from job due to low attendance

New Delhi: In a shocking incident, Indian footballer CK Vineeth has lost his job at Kerala Accountant General’s Office because of low attendance.

Vineeth, who has been a key players for Bengaluru FC, had been working there for two years.

“The problem was that his priority was always Indian football and playing for the national team whereas their priority was getting work out of me. He joined through the sports quota so he made it very clear that his priority was sports. Still, they kicked him out,” a source close to the 28-year-old from Kannur told Sportskeeda.

Vineeth, who joined the company as an auditor in 2012 under the sports quota, also expressed disappointment over the issue.

"Some of my friends in the Delhi office had told me that there is a move to sack me and on Sunday some my friends at the Thiruvananthapuram office confirmed that there is an order to sack me," Vineeth was quoted as saying by The Times of India.

A report in The Times of India added that Vineeth had been probation since joining the organization as he was busy playing for the national team as well as in different tournaments.

Vineeth was the joint Indian top-scorer in I-League 2016-2017 and Indian top-scorer in ISL 2016.

In the absence of Sunil Chhetri, Vineeth is set to lead Bengaluru’s attack in their Federation Cup semi-final against Aizawl FC.
