Gujarat panchayat poll results: As it happened
Polling for two district panchayats and 17 taluka panchayats in Banaskantha, Gandhinagar and Kheda districts was held on February 21, 2018.
Ahmedabad: The Congress and BJP won a district panchayat each, while eight taluka panchayats went to the Congress and seven to the ruling party across three districts of Gujarat in the elections.
Following are the updates:
10:10 pm: In Banaskantha, BJP wins Deesa, Dhanera, Amirgadh, Tharad, Vaav and Suigam taluka panchayats, while Kathlal taluka panchayat in Kheda also goes to the ruling party. The Congress wins Palanpur, Bhabhar, Danta, Kankrej, Dantiwada and Vadgam taluka panchayats in Banaskantha, the lone Gandhinagar taluka panchayat and the Kapdvanj panchayat in Kheda district.
10:00 pm: Of the 17 taluka panchayats, BJP bags seven and Congress wins eight. Tie in two panchayats - Deodar and Lakhani taluka panchayats of Banaskantha.
9:45 pm: BJP wins the Kheda district panchayat, while the Congress wins Banaskantha district panchayat.
9:15 pm: Results of 207 seats out of 350 in 14 taluka panchayats of Banaskantha district have been declared.
8:35 pm: Out of the 36 seats of Gandhinagar taluka panchayat, 23 results have been declared. BJP has got eight seats and Congress 13, while Independents have won two.
8:30 pm: Results of 207 seats out of 350 seats in 14 taluka panchayats of Banaskantha district have been declared. BJP has bagged 103 seats and Congress has won 98 seats.
7:28 pm: BJP wins in Amigadh Taluka Panchayat in Banaskantha district.
7:25 pm: In Dhanera Taluka Panchayat, in Banaskantha district, Congress emerges the winner.
7:20 pm: In Kathlal Taluka Panchayat, the BJP wins 3 seats and Congress one seat.
7:00 pm: In Bhabhar Taluka Panchayat, BJP wins 13 out of 18 seats, Congress bags 5 seats.
6:00 pm: In Kheda, out of 44 seats, BJP bags 28 seats and Congress gets 16.
5:30 pm: Of the 66 seats in Banaskantha district, BJP bags 29 seats and Congress wins 36 seats.
5:25 pm: Congress candidate Jantiji Thakor wins Dantiwada district panchayat seat and BJP's Savitaben wins Malgad district panchayat seat.
5:20 pm: Congress candidate Laxmiben Karen wins district panchayat Jalotra seat.
2:30 pm: There has been a tie on Lakhani taluka panchayat in Banaskantha district
1:45 pm: In the Banaskantha district panchayat, BJP has won in 23 seats, Congress on 25 seats.
1:45 pm: In Banaskantha, Suigaam Taluka Panchayat polls; BJP has won 9 seats, Congress 5, results of 2 more seats yet to be declared
1:41 pm: In Gandhinagar Taluka Panchayat, Congress' Ashaben Patel has won the Chiloda-Dabhoda seat.
1:40 pm: In Banaskantha Panchayat Poll results, Congress has bagged 20 out of 31 seats, BJP has won 11
1:40 pm: Congress candidate Jantiji Thakor has won the Dantiwada district panchayat seat while BJP's Savitaben has won on Malgad district panchayat seat.
1:35 pm: Congress candidate Laxmiben Karen won the district panchayat Jalotra seat
1:30 pm: Out of the 36 seats of Gandhinagar taluka panchayat, results for 23 have been declared. BJP has got 8, and Congress 13 and Independents have got 2 seats.

12 pm: Banaskantha district panchayat elections has 68 seats and results of 25 seats have been declared. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won nine seats and the Congress is ahead with 16. In Kheda district panchayat which has 44 seats, the BJP has won 17 and Congress nine.
9 am: The counting today started at 9 am.
There is once again a close fight between the BJP and Congress in the two district panchayats and 17 taluka panchayats elections in three districts of Gujarat. Almost 50 per cent voters exercised their franchise on February 21 in the elections which were held for Banaskantha and Kheda district panchayats and 17 taluka panchayats of Banaskantha, Kheda and Gandhinagar districts of Gujarat.
Among the municipal bodies which went to polls were: Dhawatka in Ahmedabad, Sanand, Rapar, Kheda Chaklasi, Mahmadabad, Dakor, Kheda, Mahudha, Gandhinagar Mansa, Jamnagar Dhrol, Jamjodpur, Kalavad, Gir Somnath Kodinar, Junagadh’s Mangrol, Manavadar, Bantwa in Junagadh, Chorwad and Visavadar, Jafrabad in Amreli, Rajula, Chalaya, Lathi, Anand’s Karamsad, Vallabh Vidhya Nagar, Ankalav, Borivali, Ode, Bhachau in Kutch.
It is for the first time in around 10 years, Congress is fighting the local body elections on its symbol.
