Kutch (Gujarat): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived here on Monday as part of his two-day visit to Gujarat, said ports play a vital role in the country's economic development and the Kandla port here has emerged as Asia's finest.
Addressing a gathering in Kandla, the prime minister highlighted the important role ports play and said that they are essential for India's progress.
During his visit, PM Modi will lay the foundation stones of six projects worth around Rs.1,000 crore of the Kandla Port Trust.
He will also inaugurate a pumping station on Kutch Branch Canal of the Narmada project near Bhachau town in Kutch district.
He is also expected to attend various other programmes in the state.
“Infrastructure, efficiency and transparency are vital pillars of the country's economic growth.
“And good ports are essential for country's progress,” the prime minister said.
