Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a medical college attached with a 650-bed hospital at his hometown Vadnagar in Mehsana district of Gujarat on October 8.

He is also likely to visit Bharuch district on October 7 or October 8. There is no official confirmation yet, a senior party leader said.


"It is a matter of great joy that our prime minister is visiting his birthplace Vadnagar on October 8 to inaugurate the newly-built medical college attached with 650-bed hospital," Union Minister of State for Law and Justice, P P Chaudhary told reporters in Mehsana after meeting the local BJP leaders.


Chaudhary was recently made the BJP in-charge of north Gujarat for the Assembly polls due later this year.


Meanwhile, a senior BJP leader said, "We have learnt that the PM may visit Bharuch on October 7 or 8. However, there is no official confirmation yet about his Bharuch visit".


He said Modi might inaugurate the Ro-Ro ferry service in Dahej or lay the foundation stone for the Bhadbhut barrage project on river Narmada in Bharuch district.


Modi was in Gujarat on September 17 to inaugurate the the Sardar Sarovar Dam on the Narmada river.
