CBI arrests three in Jhajjar medical college scam

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday arrested three accused for allegedly using corrupt means to get clearance for a medical college under government scanner in Jhajjar to admit students.

As per PTI, the case was registered against Narender Singh, Kunwar Nishant Singh, both residents of Vasant Kunj, and Vaibhav Sharma and V K Sharma, residents of Noida.

Earlier, the CBI had registered a case against four persons for allegedly using corrupt means to get clearance for a medical college under government scanner in Jhajjar to admit students.

It is alleged that Narender and Nishant were allegedly in touch with V K Sharma and Vaibhav to use their contacts to get clearance for the medical college.

In the FIR the CBI alleged, "The World College of Medical Sciences and Research and Hospital in Jhajjar is one of the 46 colleges which have been barred by the government from admitting students for one or two years because of substandard facilities and non-fulfilment of the required criteria."

The apex court has directed the government to consider afresh the material on record, it said.

"Sources further informed that the above-mentioned persons have been trying to get the orders of debarment overturned through the ministry and in this regard have been contacting various persons who have assured them of helping them in this regard in lieu of huge illegal gratification for the concerned unknown public servants," the FIR said.

It is alleged that Vaibhav and V K Sharma who further through their close contacts are claiming proximity with the senior functionaries of the union health ministry have given assurance to the college management for assistance in getting favourable orders.

"However, huge illegal gratification has been demanded by them in this regard," it alleged.
