GURUGRAM: In a shocking incident, a Bajrang Dal member was shot at by cattle smugglers in a high-speed chase in Haryana's Gurugram on Thursday.
The incident took place in Sector 10 of Gurugram.
According to reports, the inured Bajrang Dal member was part of Haryana government’s Task Force to stop cattle smuggling.
This force has members comprising of local volunteers and state police.
They were involved in a high-speed chase with the cow smugglers, who opened fire at the police and other volunteers injuring one of them.
The victim has been shifted to the hospital.
Sharing more details, DCP (Crime), Gurugram Rajiv Deshwal said, ''6 cow smugglers were carrying cows in a vehicle. When cow vigilantes saw them, they chased the vehicle and informed the police. Police vehicles also followed them. Meanwhile, the smugglers started throwing cows off the vehicle.''
''At last, they fired bullets which hit a member of a cow vigilante group. He was immediately admitted to a hospital. Five of the 6 smugglers have been identified. Vehicle of smugglers has been recovered, search for smugglers is underway,'' he added.
