Panchkula: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday announced free coaching facility for the wards of defence personnel and those of paramilitary forces to prepare for all competitive examinations including those conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC).

The Chief Minister was addressing a Republic Day celebrations function after unfurling the national flag here.

While paying rich tributes to the freedom fighters and martyrs, the Chief Minister said that the government had prepared a scheme with budget provision of Rs three crore for providing free coaching facility for competitive exams of IAS, IPS, RCS, HPS, Engineering, Medical, NDA and Banks to the children of serving soldiers as well as the ex-sevicemen.

Reiterating his government's commitment for the welfare of the ex-servicemen and serving soldiers, Khattar said that the brave soldiers and martyrs have laid down their lives for the unity and integrity of the country.

The state government has also set up a separate Department of Sainik Welfare to provide various services to ex-servicemen of the state in a more efficient and effective manner, he said.

Also, the government had revised the scholarship for the cadets studying in Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun, from Rs 35,000 to Rs 50,000 per annum, he added.

While congratulating the people on this occasion, he said that the present government is ensuring all round development in the state with the mantra of 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas'.

The government has introduced 170 e-services of 23 departments so that people could get various services at their door step, he said.

"The winds of change have been blowing in the state as a result of the efforts being made by the government for the last 27 months. The present government has been working for the welfare of farmers also," he said.

Amid inclement weather, the Chief Minister also took salute from the contingents of police, home guards and NCC among others who participated in the Republic Day parade.

He also honoured freedom fighter, Des Raj Pardesi and widows of martyrs on this occasion.

He announced to give Rs five lakh for the welfare of under trainee women constables who had performed PT show on this occasion. He also announced five day holiday for them during their training period.
