'Papa's angel' Honeypreet Insan, donning pink suit, appears before Panchkula Court

PANCHKULA: Honeypreet Insan was produced at Panchkula District Court on Wednesday morning in connection with Panchkula violence case. 

Her aide Sukhdeep Kaur was also produced at the court on Wednesday.

Honeypreet, whose real name is Priyanka Taneja, was arrested by the Haryana Police on October 3, 2017. 

The adopted daughter of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has been charged with inciting violence in Panchkula after following Ram Rahim's rape conviction in court. She has also been charged with sedition.

On August 25, 2017, Ram Rahim was convicted of raping two sadhvis or female followers. Following the conviction, large-scale violence spread in Haryana's Panchkula and Sirsa, leaving 38 people dead and another 264 injured. Isolated incidents of violence were also reported from Delhi and several places in Punjab. He was later sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment. A fine of over Rs 30 lakh was also imposed. 

According to reports, Honeypreet allegedly paid Rs 1.25 crore to a Dera Sacha Sauda member to arrange logistics for inciting violence in the Panchkula on August 25 if the Dera chief was convicted in the rape case.
