Shimla: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Anil Dhiman won the Bhoranj Assembly seat by 8290 votes on Thursday.

The lone assembly seat of Bhoranj in Himachal Pradesh went to bypoll amid tight security on April 9.


Over 63 percent voting was reported in Bhoranj (SC) assembly by-election.


The seat was formerly held by BJP stalwart Ishwar Dass Dhiman who had won six successive elections from the constituency since 1990. The by-election was necessitated by his death in November last year.

His son Anil Dhiman, a doctor by profession, is in the fray from the BJP. He is pitted against Promila Devi of the Congress.
