Himachal Pradesh went to polls in a single-phase on November 9, 2017. The hill state has 68 constituencies.
SHIMLA: BJP candidate Jai Ram Thakur wins from Seraj by defeating Congress' Chet Ram.
The Seraj Vidhan Sabha constituency, located in Mandi district, is one of the 68 constituencies of the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha. In 2012 assembly polls, the number of electors was 67952.

Himachal Pradesh has a tradition of change in government after every election.
The Congress and the BJP had 36 and 26 seats respectively in the outgoing House.
The BJP ousted the Congress in 1990 and the Congress avenged the defeat in 1993. The BJP formed the government with the help of Himachal Vikas Congress in 1998 and the Congress was back in power in 2003. The BJP made a comeback in 2007.
