Narendra Modi addresses rally in Himachal Pradesh's Una, says Congress has run away from battlefield

Shimla: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday addressed an election rally in Himachal Pradesh's Una district.

Launching a scathing attack on the Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) star campaigner accused the grand old party of running away from the election battlefield.

“Polls in Himachal have become one-sided as Congress has run away from the battlefield,” PM Modi told a huge gathering.

Noting down his government's achievement's in the three-year tenure, PM Modi asserted that his government has only focussed on 'Vikas' (development).

“Development is the solution to all the troubles and take the nation to greater heights,” the PM said.

He further hit out at the previous Congress regime at the Centre, saying the infrastructure development was very slow at that time, but after the BJP came to power things have drastically changed.

Exuding confidence in BJP dismantling the Virbhadra Singh-led Congress government, the BJP star campaigner said, “Have never seen such enthusiasm for BJP that I am witnessing this time during 2017 Himachal Pradesh Assembly Elections.”

“We are working to fulfill people's aspirations. We will ensure jobs for youth, healthcare for elderly and proper education for children,” the PM assured the people of Himachal.

“Ours is a government devoted to serve the people. The money we release, we ensure it is completely utilised for people's welfare,” the PM added.

Commenting on the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill, the BJP leader said GST has immensely benefited the transport sector which is vital for the hill state's development.

Attacking the Opposition for deciding to observe November 8 as a black day, the PM said, “People who faced the heat of demonetisation are still complaining and planning to observe 8 November as black money day.”

In an apparent reference to disproportionate assets case against Virbhadra Singh and his wife, the PM questioned the Congress on non-implementation of benami assets law.

“Congress did not implement the benami assets law as they were well aware it would reveal all their wrong doings,” he said amid thunderous applause.

Himachal Pradesh will go to polls on November 9. Counting of votes in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly Elections would be held on December 18.

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi will campaign in Himachal Pradesh on November 6.
