Jaipur: The Special Operations Group of Rajasthan Police on Monday (July 20) served notice to Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for his alleged involvement in a conspiracy to topple the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan.

The notice by SOG was sent under section 160 of CRPC to record his statement in the alleged 'audio tapes leak' case and to collect his voice samples.

A complaint was filed on the basis of the content of some leaked audio tapes in which the MLA Bhanwar Lal Sharma, Union Minister Shekhawat and one Sanjay Jain are purportedly heard talking about the conspiracy to topple the Gehlot government.

On July 19, citing the two audio clips which surfaced on social media, in one of which Shekhawat is allegedly heard during a conversation on a plot to bring down the state government, Congress leader Ajay Maken demanded Shekhawat to quit on moral grounds.

Congress leader Ajay Maken said the Anti-Corruption Bureau of the state police has registered a case in connection with the audio tapes. "If Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat is claiming that it is not his voice and the reference in the audio clip is of some other Gajendra Singh, then why is he afraid of giving his voice samples," Maken asked on Sunday.
