New Delhi: The newly elected Congress government led by Chief Minister Siddarmaiah has decided to ammend the anti-conversion law brought in by the previous BJP government in Karnataka, news agency PTI quoted State Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H. K. Patil as saying. The government will also take up textbooks revision. The cabinet made the announcements after meeting in Vidhana Soudha. “We will drop all the aspects introduced by the previous BJP government,” news agency IANS quoted Patil as saying. "The act will be amended in the Assembly session, which will be held in July," he said.

The BJP had imposed strict conditions on religious conversions and prescribed harsh punishment for the offence. The cabinet also decided to revise textbooks, he said.
