Senior Congress leader Motilal Vora passed away on Monday in the national capital at the age of 93. He was admitted to the Fortis Hospital in Delhi three days ago due to poor health.

Recently, he had recovered from coronavirus. A long-time associate of the Congress party, Vora died a day after his 93rd birthday.


He served as the Chief Minister Madhya Pradesh from 1985 to 1988 before he was made a minister in the union cabinet. He was also the Governor of Uttar Pradesh from 1993 to 1996.


"Shri Motilal Vora Ji was among the senior-most Congress leaders, who had vast administrative and organisational experience in a political career that spanned decades. Saddened by his demise. Condolences to his family and well-wishers. Om Shanti: PM," tweeted the PMO.


Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted, "Vora ji was a true congressman and a wonderful human being. We will miss him very much. My love & condolences to his family and friends."
