New Delhi: Chief spokesperson and co-convener, intellectual cell, BJP Mumbai Sanju Verma has said that the person who allegedly threatened martyr's daughter Gurmehar Kaur is allegedly an AISF goon.

Verma tweeted:

Yesterday, Kaur had moved the DCW, claiming that she has received "rape threats" allegedly from ABVP members after she initiated a social media campaign against the RSS' student wing.

24-year-old Kaur, a Delhi University student, had started the campaign "I am not afraid of ABVP", following the violence at Ramjas college, which went viral and received massive support from students across various universities.

The women's body received a complaint from Kaur, Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal had said, adding that the matter was being looked into.

In her complaint to the DCW, the student had said that she had received "rape" threats on social media allegedly from members of ABVP after she condemned "violence in name of nationalism" in the backdrop of Ramjas incident, as per PTI.

Kaur had last week changed her Facebook profile picture holding a placard which read, "I am a student from Delhi University. I am not afraid of ABVP. I am not alone. Every student of India is with me. #StudentsAgainstABVP".

"The brutal attack on innocent students by ABVP is very disturbing and should be stopped. It was not an attack on protesters, but an attack on every notion of democracy that is held dear in every Indian's heart. It is an attack on ideals, morals, freedom and rights of every person born to this nation," she had said in a Facebook status.

Meanwhile, Kaur today pulled out of a protest march against ABVP, requesting to be "left alone", and left for Jalandhar to be with her family.

In a series of tweets, Kaur, a Lady Shri Ram College student, announced her decision saying she has been through a lot and "this is all my 20 year self could take (sic)".

"She has left for Jalandhar to be with her family," a Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) official said.

The Delhi Police has requested their Jalandhar counterpart to provide adequate security to her.

As the march, from which she withdrew, made its way through the North Campus with hundreds of students of JNU, DU and Jamia participating, she tweeted, "All my friends. Our lovely faculty. How I wish I was there."

In an earlier tweet, she had urged people to join the march, which is "about students and not about me", in large numbers.

"I'm withdrawing from the campaign. Congratulations everyone. I request to be left alone. I said what I had to say. I have been through a lot and this is all my 20-year self could take. To anyone questioning my courage and bravery... I've shown more than enough," she said.

The Lady Sri Ram college backed Kaur saying she has the right to express her opinion.

"We support our student as duty of institutions is to nurture students without fear. Gurmehar has right to express her opinion and she responded sensitively, bravely. She has fulfilled her duty as a young citizen," the college said in a statement.
