Purinton, an ex-US Navy serviceman, mistook the victims for "Middle Easterners" when he shot them dead in Austins Bar and Grill in Olathe, Kansas.

Kansas City: Two Indian-origin men were shot at, and one of whom succumbed to injuries when a former US Navy officer opened fire at a bar in Kansas on Wednesday night.   

Here are some details of the shooter:

1. The attacker, who shot dead Indian-origin engineer Srinivas Kuchibhotla, 32, and injured his associate Alok Madasani, 32, has been identified as Adam Purinton.

2. Purinton is an ex-US Navy serviceman who mistook the victims for "Middle Easterners" when he shot them dead in Austins Bar and Grill in Olathe, Kansas.

3. The suspect fled from the bar on foot and was apprehended five hours later at an Applebee’s in Clinton, Missouri.

4. Purinton reportedly told an employee at Applebee’s that he needed a place to hide out because he had just killed two Middle Eastern men.

5. According to one bystander, Purinton shouted "get out of my country" before shooting the Indian men.

6. Purinton, 51, has been charged in Johnson County, Kansas, with one count of premeditated first-degree murder and two counts of attempted premeditated first degree murder.

7. He is also accused of wounding American Ian Grillot, 24, who was shot when he tried to intervene.
