New Delhi: Akhilesh Yadav, Samajwadi Party President and party’s chief ministerial candidate for Uttar Pardesh, is leading in his Karhal constituency shortly after the counting of votes for the assembly elections 2022 began on Thursday.
According to the initial trends, Yadav was racing ahead in Karhal by 10,000 votes, from where he is fighting his first assembly elections. The BJP had fielded union minister and Agra MP SP Singh Baghel against the SP chief.
Karhal seat that falls in Mainpuri district - considered as the bastion of Samajwadi Party and Yadav family.
Meanwhile, Yadav’s prime competitor, CM Adityanath, who is also fighting his first assembly election after being the MP of the area for two decades, is also leading from his Gorakhpur constituency.
In a wider picture, the early trends of the vote-counting suggest that BJP is retaining a comfortable victory in Uttar Pradesh.
Samajwadi Party is leading in 100 seats in Uttar Pradesh as per early trends.
