Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi led the party's protest at the iconic India Gate along with several senior leaders against alleged police crackdown on students of Jamia Millia Islamia. Priyanka was accompanied by scores of Congress workers at the protest site. 

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee led a massive protest march against the new Citizenship Bill in Kolkata and dared the Centre to dismiss her government. She declared that the law would be enforced in Bengal 'only over her dead body'. Hundreds of partymen and supporters marched with her carrying placards and raising slogans against the government. 

In Delhi, the DMRC shut down the exit and entry gates of several stations in view of the rising tension in the national capital. A SWAT team conducted a drill outside the Rashtrapati Bhawan. Meanwhile, the Delhi Police asked the students to end the protest and maintain law and order. Security was also beefed outside the official residence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
