Heavy Rainfall, Thunderstorms Lash Delhi-NCR, Likely To Continue Till April 5

Delhi-NCR Rain: Thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rainfall lashed parts of Delhi-NCR today (March 30) with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting light-moderate rain over the national capital during most days of the week between March 30 and April 5. The Safdarjung Observatory, which is considered the official marker for the national capital, received 5.8 mm of rainfall between 8.30 am and 8.30 pm today. The Palam observatory received 1.1 mm of precipitation while Lodhi Road, Ridge and Ayanagar received 7.6 mm, 4.5 mm and traces of rainfall, respectively.

A hailstorm was also reported in East Delhi.

The rainfall lashed Patel Nagar, Budha Jayanti Park, President House, Rajiv Chowk, Delhi Cantonment, India Gate, Safdarjung, Lodhi Road and several other areas. 

As many as 17 flights were diverted from the Delhi airport due to bad weather in the capital.

An official said that out of the 17 flights diverted from the Delhi airport, 8 flights each were diverted to Lucknow and Jaipur while one was diverted to Dehradun.

17 flights diverted at Delhi airport due to bad weather

Delhi weather: As many as 17 flights were diverted from the Delhi airport on Thursday evening due to bad weather in the national capital. These flights were diverted to Lucknow, Jaipur and Dehradun after heavy rainfall and thunderstorms lashed Delhi-NCR.

An official said that out of the 17 flights diverted from the Delhi airport, 8 flights each were diverted to Lucknow and Jaipur while one was diverted to Dehradun.
